Between November 2024 and August 2025, Moroccan exporters shipped 19,600 metric tons of avocados to Germany, reaching a total value close to USD 80 million. This volume is twice that of the previous season and six times higher than in 2021/22, setting a new seasonal record for the Kingdom.
Avocados have now become one of Morocco’s leading fruit export categories, ranking just behind mandarins in terms of volume. Germany is among the top five destinations for Moroccan fruit, accounting for more than 13% of the country’s avocado exports during the first ten months of the 2024/25 campaign.
German demand for avocados continues to grow, driven by rising consumption and a diversification of supply origins. Over the past two seasons, Germany sourced avocados from 26 different countries, a number that has increased to 30 this season. Among them, 12 suppliers each shipped more than 1,000 tons to the German market.
Peru remains Germany’s main avocado supplier, dominating shipments from May to October, while South Africa stands out as a major competitor during the same period. Chile provides most of the supply between November and December, whereas Israel, Colombia and Morocco primarily meet demand from January to March.
The growth of Moroccan exports has strengthened the Kingdom’s position among Germany’s top avocado suppliers. During the 2022/23 season, record volumes propelled Morocco to fifth place among exporters to this market. A decline in shipments in 2023/24 temporarily pushed the country down to eighth place, but the significant rebound observed this season has already restored Morocco to third place. With several months remaining before the end of the campaign, the country appears well positioned to maintain this ranking.
Beyond Germany, Moroccan avocado exports have also reached historic levels in other markets, including Switzerland and Canada.
