This edition gathered 575 participants from 32 countries, including growers, exporters, importers, distributors, researchers, and industry leaders. The Summit highlighted the growing role of South Africa and the Southern African region as a major producer, key exporter, and strategic hub in the global blueberry market. “Hosting the Summit in South Africa was an incredible opportunity to showcase our country’s progress and its potential within the global blueberry industry,” said Brent Walsh, CEO of Berries ZA. “We are proud to have welcomed so many international delegates and to have shared our commitment to quality, innovation, and collaboration.”

IBO Reaffirms Its Commitment to Sustainable Growth

The Summit’s panels and presentations covered key topics such as international trade, sustainability, varietal genetics, market dynamics, logistics, and labor challenges. Exclusive field visits showcased South Africa’s production potential and the region’s innovative farming practices. “South Africa provided the perfect setting to reflect on how far our industry has come, and how collaboration, innovation, transparency, and a shared vision will continue shaping the next chapter of sustainable growth,” said Mario Steta, President of the IBO.
